Doris Estelle Harris Pace, 87, of Fork Union, formerly of Charlottesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Born on April 12, 1925 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lewis Harris and Daisy Marie Harlowe Harris. Also predeceasing her were her husband Raymond Cleveland Pace, a brother, Robert Allen “Dokey” Harris, and a grandson James Cleveland.

Doris graduated from McIntire School in 1943. She worked for Southern Welding, Sears and Wayside Press before many years as a homemaker. She was a long time member of Mount View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Vaden Pace and James E. Pace; and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Christina and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren Kendra and Kylie, a brother Earl “Billy” Harris and a sister Ruby Louise Harris Kelso, and a very special daughter-in-law Sherron Pace.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip A. Carter officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday July 20, 2012 one hour prior to her service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in her memory to the Envoy Resident’s Council Fund, P.O. Box 669, Fork Union, VA 23055.
