Lieutenant Robert “Bobby” O. Jones, 72, of Charlottesville passed away peacefully on February 2, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 9th 1939 in Louisa County, the son of the late Roy C. Jones and Julia Burton Breeden. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Charlie Breeden and a brother Ret. Chief Charles B. Jones. Survivors include Kenneth Jones and his wife Pat; Harry Jones and his wife Sheila, and sister in law Faye Jones; his beloved son, Marc Brake and his wife Heather; two grandchildren, Kyle Lamb and Madison Brake; and many nieces and nephews and loyal friends. Bobby graduated from Lane High School in 1958, and served in the United States Air Force. In July of 1964 he began his 35 Year Career with the Charlottesville Police Department. After retirement he was Acting Chief of Police for the Town of Gordonsville. He was actively involved in and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Thompson Hall #5. The family would like to thank Robert “Motor” F. Henderson Jr, CeCe Thompson, Marvin Reese, Floyd Wilkerson, Steve Deaton and Brenda Mundy, his caretakers; Susan Rychick, his home health nurse; Dr. Ligush; Dr. Osborne and their office staff, and Martha Jefferson ICU Nursing Staff for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services with police and military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 10th, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville, with Mr. Scott Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday February 9th 2012, at First Baptist Church.
